Medicaid Dental Fee Increases Take Effect July 1

During the 2015-2016 state budget process, the CDA worked hard to secure an across-the-board rate increase and a targeted rate increase for the Colorado Medicaid Dental Program fee schedule. Thanks to some hard work by the Medicaid Dental Program, the increase just received federal approval from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and the increases will be effective and implemented in real time July 1, 2015. There will not be any implementation delay or retroactive adjustments associated with this rate increase–which is great news for dental offices.

Check Your Billing Procedures
The updated Medicaid dental fee schedule is currently published on the DentaQuest Colorado provider website. Dental providers should check their billing procedures to ensure they are billing at their usual and customary rates or, at a minimum, using the increased rates on the dental fee schedule for all services rendered on or after July 1, 2015. Billing at or above the increased rates will prevent your dental office from needing to take any additional action to receive enhanced payment rates. To avoid manual processing, please update your fee schedules immediately to reflect the new rates.

DIDD Changes
On July 1, 2015, DentaQuest will begin processing all claims for the Colorado Medicaid Division of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (DIDD) Waivers Program. All prior authorization requests and claims for services rendered on or after July 1, 2015, must be submitted through DentaQuest. For more information on these changes, click here.
