Dentist Sales Tax in Centennial

The city of Centennial has been sending letters to local dentists asserting that dentists must collect sales tax from patients on certain cosmetic products, including teeth whitening kits. Centennial’s tax code, however, exempts “drugs or materials furnished by a doctor as part of professional services provided to a patient” from sales tax requirements.

In reaction to this, the CDA has acted on dentists’ behalf and sent a letter to the city questioning their interpretation of the tax code. Click here to view a copy of the CDA’s letter to the city of Centennial.

Please note that the issue is not yet resolved, as we are awaiting a response from the city. We understand that the city of Centennial has sent delinquency notices to some dentists. We are actively following up with the city about our letter and will promptly notify members of the outcome.
