On Monday, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced its intention to issue a proposed rule next year to mandate amalgam separators. The EPA’s announcement stated, “EPA expects to propose a rule next year and finalize it in 2012. Dental offices will be able to use existing technology to meet the proposed requirements.  Amalgam separators can separate out 95% of the mercury normally discharged to the local waste treatment plant.”

The CDA will monitor this rule development as progress is made and keep membership informed.  Knowing that this was a possibility in the future, the CDA endorsed SolmeteX earlier this year to give CDA members a specially negotiated benefit when purchasing an amalgam separator.  Click here to learn more!
