Brett Kessler, D.D.S., will assume the ADA presidency in 2024
The CDA is proud to announce that its very own Dr. Brett Kessler was elected today, Oct. 10, as the new president-elect of the ADA at the ADA House of Delegates Meeting in Orlando, FL.
Passionately challenging the status quo but staying true to the ADA’s mission and values, CDA Past President Dr. Kessler invited the ADA delegation to “come sit with the changemakers,” encouraging his colleagues to reimagine the ADA. His platform focused on three critical items: advocacy, a dental community of respect, and wellness.
In his nomination speech he said, “Imagine an ADA that’s true to its core values, true to its vision and true to its mission… Imagine an ADA where every dentist feels supported no matter what their background is and how they choose to practice… Imagine an ADA that stays true to its ‘why’ – we make people healthy.”
Dr. Kessler has been an active volunteer leader and member of the CDA for 26 years. He served as president of the CDA from 2014-2015, in addition to
holding every elected role within the CDA. Since 2019, Dr. Kessler has represented the 14th District (representing Colorado, Arizona, Utah, Wyoming, New Mexico, Hawaii and Nevada) on the ADA Board of Trustees. He has chaired several ADA committees, including the Diversity and Inclusion Committee, the Audit Committee and the Science and Research Institute, on which he is currently serving his second term. He is an ambassador of wellness and a past board member of the Metro Denver Dental Society as well as a former part-time faculty member of the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine. He also served as the chair of the Dental Well Being Committee for the State of Colorado.
He is involved in numerous other organizations, including the Colorado Prosthodontic Society, the American College of Dentists, the International College of Dentists, the Pierre Fauchard Academy, and the Colorado Dental Association Foundation, where he was a founding chair.
Dr. Kessler graduated from the University of Illinois Chicago College of Dentistry and completed his General Practice Residency at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. He has a wide variety of practice modalities, including hospital setting, employee dentist, practice owner in a fee-for-service startup, chief dental officer at a Dental Support Organization and currently practices in a restorative Preferred Provider Organization.
A national wellness and leadership speaker, he is also a five-time Ironman triathlete, ultra-marathoner and avid trail runner. In addition to his work as a clinician, he has been involved with volunteer organizations which promote substance abuse advocacy and wellbeing. He is married to Gina Kessler, D.D.S., and they have four children together.
