DOL Overtime Rule Implementation Blocked

A Department of Labor (DOL) rule that would have changed the salary and compensation levels for exempt executive, administrative and professional staff has been blocked, after a federal judge issued a preliminary injunction Nov. 22. The rule, which would have carried steep penalties for those who didn’t comply, was set to go into effect Dec. 1, 2016.

In his ruling in the State of Nevada and 20 other states v. the U.S. Department of Labor, U.S. District Judge Amos Mazzant of the Eastern District of Texas granted the plaintiffs’ motion for a nationwide injunction.
