The CDA recently partnered with the Center for Improving Value in Healthcare (CIVHC) – which administers Colorado’s All Payer Claims Database – to create an online public dashboard of comprehensive dental rate payment data.

The dashboard is available to the public here.

This fee and payment data, which is already collected at the state level through mandatory reporting, is now available on CIVHC’s website. This robust data provides a transparent snapshot of the fees charged and paid for dental procedures throughout Colorado and provides insights into cost and utilization for oral healthcare across the state. This resource will help inform oral health policy and legislative advocacy to increase access to care.

For years, the ADA Survey of Dental Fees served as a data point that CDA used in advocacy efforts to promote adequate and appropriate reimbursement rates to improve dental access in programs like Medicaid dental. The ADA ended the fee survey in 2022 due to lack of dentist-reported data. The CDA took action in response to this to secure Colorado-specific data on dental payment rates.

This data can help dentists navigate treatment challenges and help policymakers identify barriers to care related to reimbursement delivery models.  In addition, it allows for a comparative analysis of dental utilization rates and demographic disparities when it comes to dental care.

The CDA is excited for this state-level data to now be publicly available, allowing for transparency and analysis by the state to inform healthcare policy decisions that support patients obtaining meaningful dental care.
