On Monday this week, Colorado Rep. Diana DeGette introduced a bill to provide federal grants to charitable programs that help low-income patients access dental care. HR4091 would provide $2M per year for four years and enable nationwide pro bono dental programs like the Donated Dental Services (DDS) program to reach more patients. This is the U.S. House bill that complements S1878, introduced by U.S. Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ) in late November 2011. Dentists can visit Rep. DeGette’s personal Website to send her a thank you message for sponsoring this important piece of legislation.
