Dr. Natalie Jean Schafer Appointed to CO Dental Board
Gov. John Hickenlooper recently announced the appointment of Dr. Natalie Jean Schafer of Littleton to the Colorado Dental Board. Dr. Schafer will assist the board in forming rules and regulations, examining and licensing dentists and hygienists, and conducting license suspension and revocation hearings through her term’s expiration in January 2020.
CO Nonprofit Receives ADA Foundation Volunteer Grant
Global Dental Relief, based in Denver, received a newly-established grant from the American Dental Association Foundation for its work to improve access to oral healthcare in underserved communities outside of the US. As one of five international volunteer organizations to receive the grant, Global Dental Relief provides dental care to children in Nepal, India, Guatemala, Kenya and Cambodia. Grant funds will provide for a new four-chair portable clinic in Nepal.

Dentist Running for Congress
Dr. Jeff Van Drew, a practicing dentist and state senator, is currently running for U.S. Congress in New Jersey’s 2nd District. Dr. Van Drew has owned his own private practice for 30 years where he practices general dentistry. He has served as chairman of Peer Review, expert for the State Board of Dentistry, and is a fellow of the American College of Dentists.
Dr. Julika Balajty Ambrose Publishes Memoir
Dr. Julika Balajty Ambrose recently published a memoir titled Bridging Worlds. Throughout the publication, Dr. Ambrose details her experiences in Budapest during WWII and her family’s subsequent emigration to Colorado. After learning a new language and culture at 9 years old, she went on to work as a successful dentist while raising her young family.
Dr. Richard J. Schilling publishes Portraits of the Sandhills – In Words and Watercolors
Dr. Richard Schilling, a CDA member for over 60 years, recently published his latest book, Portraits of the Sandhills – In Words and Watercolors. Dr. Schilling started painting at 12 years old and established a distinctive style and reputation through many years of experience and hundreds of paintings. He has authored over eight books, with his most recent publication highlighting the stories of local ranchers and residents and the picturesque beauty of the Sandhills.
