Congratulations to the following CDA members and partner organizations on their recent honors and their latest achievements.

 
Metro Denver Dental Society (MDDS) Award Gala and President’s Dinner
 
MDDS recognized leaders in the dental community during its 2016 Award Gala and President’s Dinner for their exemplary service and volunteerism in 2015.
 
Dr. Larry Weddle received the Past President Award, and Dr. Michael Scheidt and Dr. Brandon Hall each received the Outgoing Chair Certificate. Student of the Year went to Kyle Larson, student member of the CDA Board of Trustees; Chairman of the Year went to Dr. Karen Foster, CDA treasurer; and Volunteer of the Year went to Dr. Sheldon Newman. The top award, the Honus Maximus Award, went to Dr. Nelle Barr. 
 
American College of Dentists 2015 Ethics and Professionalism Award
 
Dental Lifeline Network received the American College of Dentists 2015 Ethics and Professionalism Award. It is the highest honor given by the college specifically for ethics. Fred Leviton, Dental Lifeline Network president and chief operating officer, accepted the award.
 
American Association of Dental Editors Awards
 
Dr. Brett Kessler, CDA immediate past president, received the 2015 American Association of Dental Editors William J. Gies Foundation Second Place Editorial Award for his column “Who Is John Galt? Disruptors in Dentistry,” which appeared in the Journal of the Colorado Dental Association.
 
Christian Piers, 2016 American Student Dental Association president and CU School of Dental Medicine student, and Kim Kelly, publications manager, received the 2015 American Association of Dental Editors Meskin Journalism Award for Excellence in Dental Student Publications for “Mouth” during the American Association of Dental Editors and Journalists conference in Washington, D.C.
 
Announcements
 
Dr. Christopher McConnell, CDA member from Highlands Ranch, Colo., was elected president of Delta Sigma Delta International Dental Fraternity at their annual meeting in November 2015. McConnell will lead “Delta Sig” members with graduate/alumni and undergraduate dental school chapters in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and throughout the U.S.
