Schedule:
- Follows the public schools calendar, working in schools for 40 weeks (mid-August thru mid-May) and at administration office for 12 weeks (mid-May thru mid-August)
- Options to have the summer off
- Occasional evenings or weekends for school events (i.e. Back to School Nights)
- Monthly team meetings or trainings required
Pay:
- Hourly
- $22/hour
- Mileage reimbursement between school sites

Summary:
KIND (Kids In Need of Dentistry) is a non-profit providing affordable dental care to children across Colorado. We are seeking a Dental Hygiene Assistant to support our portable dental sealant program, Chopper Topper, which brings preventive dental services directly into elementary schools. Chopper Topper provides dental screenings, dental sealants, fluoride varnish, and oral hygiene instructions to elementary school students around the Denver metro area. This role involves assisting the dental hygienist with clinical and administrative tasks, helping manage students during appointments, transporting equipment, preparing materials, and promoting oral health education. The role also involves organizing and attending school pre-event meet and greets with the classrooms. The ideal candidate enjoys working with children, is detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced, mobile work environment.
Responsibilities:
Clinical & School Administrative Assistance
- Represent KIND professionally
- Complete and organize consent and treatment paperwork
- Communicate with school nurses to obtain student information
- Input data and notes into electronic health records in Dentrix Ascend during the student appointments
- Maintain HIPAA-compliant confidentiality of all health records
- Assist in cleaning clinic area according to OSHA guidelines after each student
Student Support & Oral Health Education
- Escort students from classrooms to the dental clinic area and back
- Help calm and reassure students who are anxious or nervous
- Provide age-appropriate oral health education
- Assemble dental “goodie bags” to participating students
Program Logistics & Equipment Handling
- Drive to school locations throughout the Denver metro area and arrive on schedule
- Lift and transport equipment into and out of schools
- Assist with daily setup and takedown of mobile dental equipment
- Ensure clinic areas are clean, organized, and welcoming
School Events & KIND Administrative Tasks
- Assemble information packets and deliver them to upcoming schools as needed
- Organize and represent KIND at community and school events such as Back to School Nights, health fairs, and pre-event school meet and greets with classroom oral hygiene instructions
- Assist with planning and logistics for KIND special events, outreach events, and special committees
KIND Educational Opportunities & Team Building Meetings
- Attend monthly team building meetings with KIND staff
- Attend monthly educational classes related to Chopper Topper
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Some college or on-the-job training for dental assisting (preferred)
- Familiarity with dental terminology, tooth anatomy, and surfaces (preferred)
- Experience with electronic health record platforms; Dentrix Ascend experience preferred
- Must have reliable transportation to travel daily to schools across the Denver metro area
- Enjoys and is comfortable working with children
- Strong interpersonal skills, professional demeanor, and ability to communicate clearly
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly
- Spanish-speaking strongly preferred
- CPR certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
- HIPAA certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
- OSHA certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
- Must pass background and fingerprinting to work in schools
- Flexible, dependable, and able to adapt to a mobile work environment
