Thank you to the Colorado dentists and their teams that volunteered for the 2016 Colorado Mission of Mercy (COMOM) dental clinic, which took place June 17-18 in Brush, Colo. Because of you, about 700 patients from across the state received much-needed dental care.

Led by 2016 COMOM site chairs Dr. Chuck Schonberger; Pat Schonberger, R.D.H.; and Dr. Cameron Birch and COMOM Director Pam Dinkfelt, volunteers turned Brush High School into a fully functioning 125-chair dental clinic—a massive undertaking that runs like a well-oiled machine. COMOM started in 2006, and nine dentists have been there from the start as faithful volunteers. Thank you to Dr. Nelly Barreto, Dr. Nick Chiovitti, Dr. Tom Hebda, Dr. Jeff Hurst, Dr. Bob Morrow, Dr. Ken Peters, Dr. Mike Scheidt, Dr. R.J. Schultz and Dr. Cal Utke for 10 years of service to COMOM!

Patients come to COMOM with all kinds of dental needs. They’re able to get anything from cleanings and fillings to tooth extractions and root canals—all at no cost to them. Volunteers in a portable dental lab create flippers and sometimes even dentures for patients who need them. Before patients exit the clinic, they receive oral health education to set them up for dental success in the future.
It’s dentists like you who have made the program a success. Thank you for giving back to your community by participating in this event.
Check out the COMOM Facebook page for photos from the event. Please tag yourself and your team members!
