The location of the 2017 CDA Annual Session has changed. Due to an unforeseen delay in hotel construction, the meeting will now be at the Park Hyatt Beaver Creek Hotel and Spa in Beaver Creek, Colo., instead of the originally contracted Vail Cascade/Hotel Talisa property in Vail, Colo.
What Changes
The biggest change is in regard to your hotel room reservation. If you have already booked your hotel room reservation with Hotel Talisa, you must re-book your hotel room reservation with the Park Hyatt Beaver Creek Resort and Spa. The deadline to book at the negotiated rate of $139 + tax per night is May 17. Please make your Park Hyatt reservations online or call 888-421-1442. We apologize for this inconvenience. This re-booking is necessary because Hotel Talisa cannot transfer customers’ personal information to another hotel.
The CDA realizes this isn’t a ideal situation and we are working hard to make this transition as seamless as possible for members. We understand many questions might arise, and we’ve created this FAQ to hopefully answer most of those questions. What Doesn’t Change
Despite the change in mountain town, the CDA’s meeting and event schedule will remain very much the same on the same dates, June 9-11, 2017. So what’s in store?
The business portion of the Annual Session features the CDA House of Delegates, which convenes Saturday, June 10 at 8:30 a.m., with the mid-session House of Delegates luncheon starting at noon. If you’ve volunteered to represent your component as a delegate, thank you! Keep in mind this doesn’t automatically register you for Annual Session, though. To register, visit the CDA website.
Dentists in Colorado now are required to earn continuing education (CE) credits every licensure cycle. The 2017 Annual Session gives you the opportunity to earn a total of nine CE credits in two seminars.
- Earn seven CE credits on Friday, June 9 at a full-day seminar, “Actions and Algorithms for Medical Emergencies: How to Save a Life (Include Your Own),” with speaker Daniel Pompa, D.D.S.
- Join your peers the Sunday morning, June 11, to earn two CE credits at a two-hour seminar, “Introduction to Sleep-Disordered Breathing and the Management of Upper Airway Resistance,” with speaker Keith Swartz, M.D.
Annual Session has many opportunities to be social and to network with dentists from across the state. Staples of this meeting are the:
- Welcome Wine and Cheese Reception, June 9;
- Continental breakfast buffet, June 10;
- Networking lunches during the House of Delegates and Friday CE course, June 9-10;
- Past President’s Beer Garden immediately following the House of Delegates, June 10; and
- New Dentist Committee social event at the Dusty Boot, June 10.

Wind down after a weekend of business with a guided family hike before you head back to real life. CDA Past President Dr. Brett Kessler will lead hikers of all ages and abilities up Beaver Lake Trail on June 11.
A short 15-minute drive gets you to the GoPro Mountain Games in Vail. When you’re finished learning and leading, attend the games or take advantage of some less extreme events sponsored by the GoPro Mountain games.
- Yoga: Experience the Zen Zone with a unique yoga experience on the mountain with internationally known instructors. Classes are $5-$35.
- Fun Runs: Check out the Rocky Dog Trail Run 5K June 8, Superfeet Apres 5K Trail Run June 9, Superfeet 10K Spring Runoff June 10, and Pepi’s Face-Off (a 30-minute uphill/downhill dash) June 11. Registration prices vary.
- Kids: Even the littlest athletes can participate at the event. On June 10, kids can take part in the free X-Country Mountain Bike ride and families can try out the Mountain Mud Run. There’s also a youth climbing wall competition June 11.
- Concerts: Don’t miss three FREE nights of concerts at the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater.
