The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) has announced additional changes to its radiology (x-ray) regulations. Extensive changes to the rules were adopted in October 2009. Most of the new changes are non-substantive, grammatical corrections.
For dentistry, the notable change is Part 2 language that will require annual inspections for volumetric dental imaging systems. Most dental x-ray equipment must be inspected every three years. An exception is made for portable hand held units, which must be inspected every year. The revision is supposedly a clarification of current practice.
