The state budget crisis has had an impact on Medicaid dental and the CDA continues to fight for our providers and access to dental care. Read the CDA’s most recent letter to the state addressing this.

The CDA has worked diligently over the last several years to increase access to Medicaid dental care by addressing chronically underfunded Medicaid dental rates. As you know, the CDA was able to secure significant increases to a select number of dental rates in 2024 that directly impacted access to dental care. This action by the CDA increased Colorado Medicaid providers by 180 dentists in under six months, proving that fair and sustainable rates equate to greater access to care.

As rates are now targeted by the state budget, the CDA continues to be engaged in this work. We are working with state departments and testifying at “rate review” meetings (the next one is this coming Friday, Nov. 14). The CDA is strongly urging the state to use data-informed and cost-based figures from the CIVHC dental rate database. The CDA will continue to advocate this message to the rate review advisory committee and to the state legislature over the next several months.
