Improvements to Colorado’s CHP+ Dental Program

As of July 1, the CHP+ dental program was expanded with the annual max increasing from $600 to $1,000 for covered children, and new periodontic, prosthodontic and orthodontic codes were added. These newly added codes include:

D4000 – D4999 (Periodontics):
-D4210 – D4211 – Gingivectomy
-D4277 – D4278 – Free soft tissue grafts
-D4910 – Periodontal maintenance: 2 times in a 12-month period (4 times in a 12-month period with certain medical conditions)

D5000 – D5899 (Removable Prosthodontics):
-D5820 – D5821 – Interim removable partial dentures
-D5211 – D5212 – Acrylic partial dentures

D5900 – D5999 (Maxillofacial Prosthetics):
-D5932- Obturator prosthesis, definitive

D8000 – D8999 (Orthodontics):
-D8070 – D8090 – Comprehensive orthodontic treatment:  covered only when medically necessary due to needed orthognathic surgery, or when necessary to restore oral structures to healthy function.  Member must be continuously enrolled in the plan for 12 months prior to the start of treatment. Treatment must be preauthorized by the contractor. Separate lifetime maximum of $1,500 per member. Medically necessary orthodontic treatments related to cleft lip and/or cleft palate are covered in the CHP+ medical benefit program.
