HB 1053, a bill that ensures that pediatric dental benefit coverage is available in all plans purchased through the state healthcare exchange and in the private market, was signed by the governor into law. The bill, sponsored by Rep. Beth McCann (D-Denver) and Sen. Irene Aguilar (D-Denver), allows the commissioner of insurance to require that health plans purchased through the state exchange require purchase of pediatric dental benefits, expanding access to dental care for kids.
