What do dental emergencies and an extreme slackline competition have in common? More than you might think … Come to Vail June 9-11, 2017 and we’ll prove it to you!
The CDA’s 130th Annual Meeting is taking place this summer in Vail, Colo. What used to be the Vail Cascade Resort, has now undergone a multi-million dollar renovation into luxury accommodations and the CDA has the honor of being one of the very first groups to enjoy this mountain property, renamed The Hotel Talisa.
If luxury digs aren’t enough, let me also tell you about the GoPro Mountain Games taking place this exact weekend in Vail Village. More than 3,000 athletes come to Vail to compete in extreme kayaking, biking, running, rock climbing, slacklining and more! And if you’re inspired to do more than watch this FREE event, the Mountain Games offer countless events and activities for both adults and kids, like yoga with renowned instructors, a trail run with your dog and a kid’s mud run. At night, there are also free concerts to attend, and plenty of food and drink to enjoy.
Before I get too carried away with the “play” part of the weekend, let me also tell you about the learning and leadership opportunities. The CDA will be offering nine hours of CE credit through two incredible seminars. The first is on Friday, June 9: Actions and Algorithms for Medical Emergencies: How to Save a Life (including your own), with speaker Daniel Pompa, D.D.S. The second course is Sunday, June 11: Introduction to Sleep-Disordered Breathing and the Management of Upper Airway Resistance, with speaker Keith Swartz, M.D. Both courses will offer new and important information to take back to your practices.
Last, but definitely not least, is the CDA House of Delegates meeting, held on Saturday, June 10. This is the CDA’s annual governance meeting were officers are elected, debate is respectfully conducted and future decisions are made. We invite you to be a delegate to this meeting. You don’t need prior experience, you don’t need a background in politics…all you need is passion for your profession. Please contact your component society staff or president to volunteer to serve at this meeting.
It’s hard to beat summer in Vail, and the CDA is bringing you a conference not-to-miss. You’ll even have time to try out the slackline. If anything goes wrong, we know a dentist who can help.
See you in June!
