Dentists 10 years or less out of dental school or advanced education are considered “new dentists” and entitled to attend special events for networking, learning and socializing.  Read more about New Dentist Committee (NDC) happenings:

Study Group, March 7
The next CDA New Dentist study group is March 7 at Yanni’s restaurant in the Landmark area of Greenwood Village, Colo. The NDC study group series is an ADA award winning program, honored most recently in 2012 (see below). The March presentation will discuss how to build or remodel a dental practice, including selecting contractors, landmines to avoid with contracts and tips to help you complete the process with success.  The presentation will be given by Paul Battista of Battista Design Group, Dan Brown of BVB General Contractors, and Dennis Thornton of Patterson Dental.  A question and answer session will follow the presentation. This is free for CDA New Dentist members or $35 for non-members. Please RSVP to CDA Director of Membership Jeanne Nicoulin at jeanne@cdaonline.org or 303-996-2842.

Speed Dating, April 14
Back by popular demand is the New Dentist inspired “Speed Dating” event.  No, it’s not about finding your soul mate, but rather finding your future opportunity. The event brings seasoned, transitioning dentists together with newer dentists who are looking to purchase a practice or become an associate. These meeting opportunities occur in a speed dating format – very short meetings to gather basic information and exchange CVs and office/contact information.  There have been several successful matches over the years from this event.  Speed Dating will be April 14, at the CDA building.  Dr. Mike Abernathy, a Texas dentist and an entertaining and informative speaker, will be addressing the group and moderating the process.  Please RSVP early for this event, as space is limited.  Contact CDA Director of Membership Jeanne Nicoulin at jeanne@cdaonline.org or 303-996-2842.

American Dental Association Honors CDA NDC
The American Dental Association has awarded the CDA New Dentist Committee’s program, “Surviving the First Ten Years” with the New Dentist Committee Outstanding Program Award of Excellence.  This program is a series of study groups (like the March 7 event mentioned above) designed to help New Dentists get established in the dental profession. It was started just a year ago as the brainchild of Dr. Nicole Eberle, chair of the CDA New Dentist Committee. It was implemented by Dr. Jennifer Berwick, Dr. Dawn Wehking and Dr. Halee Lesch.  Dr. Berwick will accept the award and will speak at the national New Dentist Conference in Washington, D.C. in June this year.

NDCMuseumKesslerChildren’s Museum Family Event
On Feb. 11, the NDC hosted its first family fun event, held at the Denver Children’s Museum.  The event celebrated the NDC’s third birthday party and the museum was reserved exclusively for the NDC families, giving them private access to all exhibits.  Approximately 100 people attended this event and the evening received positive feedback for future events of this nature.

The NDC serves as an advocate for the new dentist perspective in these changing times.  Educational and social networking opportunities are offered several times during the year, usually free of charge.  The NDC is also a good starting point if you desire to serve in a leadership role in organized dentistry.
