While February seems distant now, there’s actually no better time than this month to register for the eighth annual Give Kids a Smile Day program during National Children’s Dental Health Month. The CDA is recognizing the month as always by organizing Give Kids a Smile Day on Friday, Feb. 5, 2010. Give Kids a Smile Day is a nationwide event that provides children from low-income families with free dental treatment and education. It is a vehicle to not only treat children but to also draw attention to the struggle that many families face for basic dental care.
Participation is easy and is 100% accommodating to your schedule and comfort level. Volunteers can treat patients in their private offices, treat patients at a nearby participating dental clinic or visit schools to provide educational presentations. The CDA is once again partnering with the University of Colorado Denver School of Dental Medicine to provide treatment to kids at their facility. We’re still seeking volunteers to join us at the school – patients, instruments and a dental student to assist you will be provided.
Colorado has been recognized by the American Dental Association for its annual program. Join us in February – there’s still time to register! Simply go to cdaonline.org/GKAS for more information. If you’d like to volunteer to help us at the dental school, you don’t need to register online; instead please call the CDA at 303-996-2844 or 800-343-3010.
