What was that? Did you hear that?

Was it the sound of pattering feet running to the CDA Annual Meeting this year at the famous Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, CO? Or ghosts haunting the fourth floor of this gorgeous historic hotel? Ghosts aren’t real, right?

If you haven’t heard of The Stanley Hotel, a quick internet search will enlighten you. Stephen King was inspired to write “The Shining” after spending the night in room 217. According to hotel staff, Jim Carrey only lasted three hours at the hotel before demanding a new place to stay while filming “Dumb and Dumber.” Maybe you’ll catch Mrs. Stanley’s pianos playing unattended in the concert hall or find your luggage items moved within your hotel room without explanation. Let me know if the spirits of children cause the lights to flicker on the top floor of the hotel…especially in rooms 401 and 428. Don’t take my word for it, check it out yourself.

Whether you believe in ghosts or not, The Stanley Hotel is the perfect location for the 2019 CDA meeting.  Just an hour and a half from Denver, this quaint town has something for everyone:

  • Estes Park Aerial Tramway
  • Rocky Mountain National Park
  • Lake Estes
  • Open Air Adventure Park
  • Elkins Distilling Co.
  • Hiking trails galore
  • Shops and galleries to browse in town
  • And don’t forget to try the salt water taffy (it’s dentist approved, sort of)

We have an incredible meeting planned this year with CE courses by Kevin Boyd, D.D.S., M.Sc.; Stan Cobb, D.D.S., M.S.; David Maloley, D.D.S.; and Thomas Viola, RPh., C.C.P. In addition, this meeting will be dedicated to taking care of ourselves and our community with wellness opportunities, networking and, once again, the CDA Foundation Biergarten to benefit students at the CU School of Dental Medicine. We are also pleased to welcome the Colorado Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (CAPD) members to Annual Session. CAPD is having their meeting and speakers in conjunction with the CDA Annual Session again this year.
