The Colorado State Board of Dental Examiners (SBDE) met on Jan. 23. Much of the meeting focused on discussion of the Sunset Review of the Dental Practice Law. A new dentist and a new public member are expected to be appointed to the SBDE shortly. The SBDE plans to conduct rulemaking on opioid prescribing and licensure rules in April. We will share the draft rules with CDA member dentists when they are published for comment ahead of this meeting. The SBDE also plans to appoint a committee to assist in review of anesthesia applications at its April 2014 meeting.
