CDA, CFDH Work to Restore Funding for Senior Care

January 11, 2010

Today, the CDA met with the Colorado Foundation of Dentistry for the Handicapped (CFDH) to discuss efforts to restore funding for the Dental HouseCalls program that aids low income seniors who are too frail or ill to travel to a dental office. This program is the only option that many low income seniors have for dental care.

Last fall, the Governor’s office cut funding to the program, likely due to a lack of understanding about what the program offered. We continue to work together to educate the Governors office and legislators about the program and its benefits. The legislature’s Joint Budget Committee is considering reinstating funds for the program, and funding for the CDPHE program for elderly seniors may also be restored.
