ADA Action Alert: Extend Important Dental Office Tax Credits

Please take a moment to contact your members of Congress to encourage the renewal of critical tax incentives that allow dental practices to deduct purchases of certain equipment and property.  These “Section 179” tax provisions allow dental practices to deduct up to $500,000 for investments in new equipment and property, phasing out for investments exceeding $2 million.

CODPAC Endorses Key State Legislators for the Nov. 2014 Election 
 
The deadline for submitting your 2014 ballot is right around the corner on Tuesday, Nov. 4. Ballots have been mailed, and now is the time to cast your vote. The 2014 ballot asks your input on the election of both federal and local officials, as well as several possible changes to the state constitution and laws.

The 2014 election is critical for dentistry, as you will be electing the state senators and representatives who will decide key issues for dentistry in the upcoming years, including important insurance reform, Medicaid and access to dental care (like the non-dentist "mid-level" provider) issues in Colorado. Please take time to educate yourself on candidate positions and vote in the important election on Nov. 4!

All Dentists Must Register with Colorado's PDMP by THIS FRIDAY, Oct. 31

All dentists with a DEA registration are required to register with Colorado's Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP) by Oct. 31. The PDMP is a secure, online database created in 2005 that provides objective information about patients' controlled substance prescription records to assist Colorado healthcare providers in offering appropriate treatment to their patients. If you have not already signed up to use the PDMP, you may register for an account at: http://www.hidinc.com/copdmp. If you are already registered or are a current user of the PDMP database, no future action is needed at this time to meet the state requirement.

Free Product is Available for Give Kids a Smile Day

Deadline to Request Free GKAS Product: Nov. 10  
 
Friday, Feb. 6, 2015 is Give Kids a Smile Day (GKAS) across the nation.  This is a day of donated treatment and education to kids who need it most.  It is organized through the American Dental Association, however, several state entities support their local GKAS efforts.
 
As always, Henry Schein and Colgate are generous sponsors of this event and allow participating offices and clinics to register for free product to be used for GKAS.  The deadline to register for this free product is Nov. 10.  Click here to register today!

State Board of Dentistry to Consider Sunset Review Rules: Oct. 29 and Nov. 6

The Colorado State Board of Dentistry will meet to review the initial draft rules related to the 2014 Sunset Review Bill (HB14-1227) tomorrow, Oct. 29 at 1 p.m. at 1560 Broadway, Denver, CO 80202, Conference Room 110D. In addition, an expected overflow meeting of the Colorado State Board of Dentistry is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 6 at 8 a.m. at 1560 Broadway, Denver, CO 80202, Conference Room 110D.
