Mark your calendar for Feb. 16 and plan to join the CDA for the 2018 Dentists at the Capitol Lobby Day. Lobby day is intended for dentist members of the CDA and ASDA student members only.
New Lobby Day Format
Lobby day has a new format this year. The CDA and its lobbyists will offer training sessions to participants by webinar the week before lobby day. When dentists arrive to the Capitol on lobby day, they will assemble into regional teams and begin the day by speaking with legislators during a breakfast reception. Afterward, the regional teams will go to the House and Senate floors to speak with legislators who did not attend the breakfast reception.
The CDA has updated the lobby day format to make meetings with legislators more efficient and allow the lobby day event to conclude by mid-morning.
What’s at Stake this Legislative Session
This year’s legislative session will set the future course for many important dental programs like CHP+, Medicaid and the OAP senior dental care program. Substantial policy changes are expected for pain management, including opioid prescribing. Additional requirements for practices like data privacy, fee disclosure and background checks in licensure will be discussed. State income tax cuts for individuals and businesses are proposed. Each of these bills will affect you personally and professionally.
