The Oral Cancer Foundation is seeking dental professionals to screen patients next month in recognition of the 12th annual Oral Cancer Awareness Month. They will provide all the materials needed to conduct the screenings in addition to publicity for your location on their Website.

The 2011 awareness screening week is April 11-15. Several organizations, institutions, and private medical and dental practitioners are participating to make this the largest national awareness month and screening week.  Through this group collaboration, the foundation is working to raise public awareness.

Dentists are asked to provide a free screening event in their office for at least three hours during awareness week or on any day during the month of April. The foundation will support you with the materials needed to conduct the event and help you get exposure in your community.  Simply click here to learn more and to sign up.  Once registered, the foundation will send you support materials this month, which includes patient-related handouts, customized press releases for your office, talking points for potential media interviews, oral cancer screening forms for patient charts, referral forms for patients who need a second opinion, and support materials for your staff on the day of your screening.

The Oral Cancer Foundation’s goal is to have 10,000 dentists nationwide schedule a screening in April.  For more information, go to www.oralcancerfoundation.org.
