On May 27, the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine presented 48 dental graduates with their Doctor of Dental Surgery degrees.  CDA Executive Director Dr. Quinn Dufurrena was the commencement speaker this year, and encouraged the class of 2011 to get involved and be active participants in the dental profession and their communities.

QuinnCUGraduation2011As with prior years, the Alumni Association honored individuals who have made outstanding contributions, or who have rendered outstanding service to the dental school, Alumni Association, university, or profession.  This year, Dr. David Gozalo and Dr. Craig Passon were honored for their unique and important contributions to the school’s continued initiatives in instructional technology and advanced restorative care.

In addition to the awards presented by the Alumni Association, the International College of Dentists presented its annual award the evening prior to commencement to Dr. Lana Nysse, from the graduating class of 2011. The Dental Leadership Award and a check for $250 are presented to a graduate who demonstrates outstanding class leadership for their four years in school. Dr. Nysse is entering the Air Force for the next three years.
