Governor Signs Healthcare Bills into Law

April 20, 2010

Yesterday, Gov. Bill Ritter signed a series of healthcare bills into law, including:

  • HB 1004, which requires insurance companies to provide information on policy coverage and benefits in a standard and recognizable format;
  • HB 1166, which requires insurance companies to write healthcare policy language in “plain language” and sets standards for organization, font size and reading level; and
  • HB 1138, which offers loan forgiveness initiatives to primary care providers in rural and underserved areas.

The CDA supported HB 1138, as it may provide an additional funding opportunity for a limited population of oral health providers. HB 1138 supplements the existing dental loan forgiveness program.
