DESCRIPTION:May 17\, 6:30-7:30 p.m. \nThis session\, presented by Dr. Dwinita Mosby Tyler\, will take us on a journey of exploring the six\, most prominent\, barriers to advancing health equity in our work. The exploration will allow each participant an opportunity to reflect on personal and professional conundrums and learn tips and tools to disrupt those barriers as they are happening. As an additional tool\, this session will include a snapshot of examples of what health equity looks like in the national landscape. \nObjectives: \n\nUnderstand barriers to equitable oral healthcare\nTakeaway strategies for breaking down healthcare obstacles\nGain insight from national case studies\n\nAbout the Speaker:\nDr. Dwinita Mosby Tyler is the Chief Catalyst and Founder of The Equity Project\, LLC. She is the former Senior Vice President and Chief Inclusion Officer for Children’s Hospital Colorado. She also served as the Executive Director of the Office of Human Resources for the City and County of Denver. She is an accredited consultant by the Georgetown University National Center for Cultural Competence and recipient of the Cornell University Diversity & Inclusion certification. Dr. Mosby Tyler is nationally recognized for her equity work with non-profit\, community\, government and corporate organizations. DESCRIPTION:May 19\, 5:00-8:00 p.m. \nJoin the Colorado Springs Dental Society as they host an evening of whiskey & wine tasting to benefit Peak Education’s Dalton Conner Scholarship Fund. Along with sampling delicious libations from around the world\, kindly donated by Cheers Liquor Mart\, we will hold a silent auction. Proceeds will go directly to support Colorado Springs youth. \nIn 1997\, Dr. Conner\, a retired periodontist and CSDS member\, co-founded Peak Education Inc. with attorney Steve Mullens. Peak Education believes that every student deserves to reach their full potential and that all willing learners are capable of doing so.
