SUMMARY:Practice Management Panel: Helping New Dentists Become Great Leaders in their Office
DESCRIPTION:May 25\, 6:00-8:00 p.m. \nDuring the first few years out of school\, you are often so focused on case acceptance\, treatment planning\, and staying on time\, that you don’t always have the time to learn how to run\, own or operate a dental practice. The CDA New Dentist Committee (NDC) has selected a few successful practice owners and non-owners from around the state to sit on a panel at our next Crowns and Cocktails Event to help guide you in your career moving forward. This discussion-based event will provide an opportunity to learn from the panelists about what it takes to lead a highly productive practice and effective dental team. Ask questions of panelists relating to practice ownership or management that you can turn into practical and innovative strategies to increase productivity\, enrich the work environment and create a positive patient experience. \nMeet the Panelists: \nDr. Lindsay Compton attended the University of Iowa College of Dentistry where she held various leadership positions within her class\, the school\, and national student organizations. She won major research competitions and was published in the Journal of Dental Research. After dental school\, Dr. Compton joined the general practice residency program at Truman Medical Center in Kansas City\, MO. where she gained experience in sedation dentistry and provided care to developmentally disabled patients\, elderly patients\, and pediatric patients. Dr. Compton is active in the Spear Study Club and International Partnership for Occlusion Study Club. Dr. Compton is the incoming CDA President. \nDr. Melissa Goodpaster went to dental school at Creighton University where she made the Dean’s List six out of her eight semesters. Dr. Goodpaster moved to Denver following graduation from Creighton University in 2012. She started her career working for several different local corporate practices until deciding to open a scratch start-up in 2018 on her own. Since starting her practice only four years ago\, she has grown to a nine operatory practice with three doctors and a total of 18 employees. She is the current chair of the CDA’s New Dentist Committee (NDC). Dr. Goodpaster is also a regular participant in both the Seattle and Spear Study Clubs. \n  \nDr. Carrie Mauterer graduated from the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine in 2005. She was honored with fellowships by the Pierre Fauchard Academy\, the American College of Dentists\, and the International College of Dentists. She nurtured a scratch start-up private practice for several years before partnering with Peak Dental Services and becoming their Clinical Director. Dr. Mauterer has held several leadership positions including class president while in dental school and is a former CDA president. \n  \nDr. Shaheen Moezzi attended the University of Southern California for his dental degree and completed a residency in Oral/Maxillofacial Anesthesiology in 2013. Dr. Moezzi is a board-certified diplomate of the American Dental Board of Anesthesiology. After finishing residency\, he stayed on as full-time faculty as an anesthesia attending at OSU until 2014 when he relocated to Denver to work as a dentist anesthesiologist in private practice. Dr. Moezzi is currently a part-time clinical instructor at University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine where he enjoys working with the residents and students and a private practice owner in the Denver area that focuses on kids and those with special needs. \n  \nDr. Eric Rossow attended the University of Iowa College of Dentistry where he received numerous awards and was published for his work in geriatric research. He received an Advanced Education in General Dentistry certificate from the Bureau of Medicine and Surgery in 2005 after his residency at Portsmouth Naval Hospital. Practicing in the Navy for three years\, Dr. Rossow received many awards including a Navy Achievement Medal for performing over 3\,000 procedures while deployed to the Persian Gulf aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise. Dr. Rossow has held numerous volunteer positions over the years\, and he regularly attends continuing education courses with the Colorado Prosthodontic Society\, the Denver Implant Study Club\, CDA\, MDDS\, AGD. He also helped establish the CDA New Dentist Study Club years ago. \n\nCost:\n$10 for CDA Members & $20 for non-CDA members.
