The course will talk about the basics of pain and pain treatment\, and will look at opioids and their place in the treatment of dental pain.  \nIn addition\, the new Nav 1.8 inhibitor (suzetrigine) will be briefly described and information provided about where it may fit in the treatment of dental pain. Lastly\, this course will look at new studies that have come out over the past two years. \nThis learning opportunity is provided by the CDA in partnership with the Colorado Consortium for Prescription Drug Abuse Prevention. \nLearning Objectives: \n\nIdentify the relative effectiveness of common oral pain medications.\nIdentify the three main mechanisms of pain and their impact on acute and chronic pain.\nIdentify how our thoughts and emotions affect our pain experience.\n\nDr. Don Teater is a board certified family physician who has practiced medicine for over 30 years.  For the past 20 years his work has focused on treating acute and chronic pain and opioid use disorder.
