Join us to enhance your skills as we delve into the latest developments in opioid use and guidelines. By the end of this course, you’ll be well-equipped to provide evidence-based, responsible, and compassionate pain management to your patients while staying compliant with the latest regulations.

Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Have a better understanding of the opioid landscape, including the latest statistics and trends related to opioid use, misuse, and its impact on oral health.
  • Gain insight into the new laws and regulations governing opioid prescribing, focusing on the mandatory 8 hours of Continuing Education (CE) needed for your next DEA renewal. Ensure you’re in compliance while providing effective pain management.
  • Stay current with the latest medication advancements for acute and chronic pain management. Learn about new pharmaceutical options and their applications in dental practice.

Presenter:

Dr. Kevin Patterson, DDS, MD, is a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon with over two decades of experience in Colorado. He is the past president of the Colorado Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the Metropolitan Denver Dental Society. Dr. Patterson is the current President-Elect for the Colorado Dental Association. He’s deeply committed to providing oral health care, particularly for underserved populations, through organizations like Kids in Need of Dentistry and Dental Lifeline Network. Dr. Patterson graduated from the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine and completed his training at The Mayo Clinic. He’s actively involved in dental associations and is an associate professor at the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Patterson is also dedicated to opioid awareness and responsible prescribing, contributing to organizations such as JP Opioid Interaction Awareness Alliance and PROP (Physicians for Responsible Opioid Prescribing).
