Yesterday, the ADA President urged the House Appropriations Committee to continue funding several federal oral health programs. Dr. Ron Tankersley provided an example of a research program related to salivary diagnostics, which may have a positive impact in early diagnosis of many chronic health conditions and cancers. The Senate Banking Committee recently indicated its commitment to funding oral health programs; however, appropriations committees are responsible for putting numbers on paper. This outreach by the ADA is critical in underscoring the importance of oral health funding.
