Last week, the CDA and ADA sent a letter to Senator Michael Bennet urging his help in seeing H.R. 4626 brought to the U.S. Senate floor for a vote. On February 24, the U.S. House overwhelmingly passed H.R. 4626, a bill to repeal the McCarran-Ferguson federal antitrust exemption for insurance companies. In spite of broad support, the bill has met with delay in the Senate.
The ADA and CDA reiterated that a fair and open market is the best means of ensuring the delivery of high quality and cost-conscious healthcare. H.R. 4626 effectively addresses the anticompetitive conduct that must be remedied to assure that purchasers of health insurance coverage can receive the full value of the coverage they seek in a fair and open marketplace.
