As broadcast in a recent CDA e-Alert, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) is considering revisions to its rules on radiation control, including changes to rules governing the use of x-ray technology in dentistry. The CDA conducted an extensive review of the rule revisions and filed formal comments to address a few concerns. Primary concerns addressed in the comment include restrictions on the use of handheld x-ray devices and records retention requirements that would potentially conflict with State Board of Dental Examiners (SBDE) rules.
