Thank You, Volunteers, For Making Give Kids a Smile Day a Success!

The CDA would like to thank Colorado dentists and their teams that volunteered for the 2016 Give Kids a Smile Day, which took place Friday, Feb. 5 as part of National Children’s Dental Health Month. Because of you, hundreds of children across the state received much-needed dental care at no cost and learned the importance of good dental hygiene.

Time to Update Your Dental License

January 12, 2016

License renewal is now available through the Colorado Dental Board's website. (Click on the "Renew a License" button to get started.) All Colorado dentist and dental hygienist licenses must be renewed by Monday, Feb. 29, 2016. If you have not already done so, please remember to renew your state dental license before it expires. Dentists and dental hygienists are not permitted to practice dentistry without a current license.

Colorado Dental Board Announces Meeting Dates for 2016 Review of Rules and Policies

January 5, 2016

In the December 2015 eNews, the CDA notified members that the Colorado Dental Board would be undertaking a major review of dental rules and policies in early 2016. Several Dental Board rules were already reviewed as part of Sunset Review rulemaking conducted in early 2015. Now, the Dental Board is tackling all remaining rules and policies. Yesterday, the Colorado Dental Board announced dates for the upcoming committee meetings and rulemaking hearings. All dentists are invited to participate in the committee meetings and rulemaking hearings to provide input on needed rule clarifications and revisions. CDA members are encouraged to attend these meetings and hearings to provide feedback.

Lasers in Dentistry: Be Sure to Stay in Compliance

During last year’s 2014 state legislative session, the Colorado Dental Practice Act was reviewed and updated pursuant to HB 14-1227, the dental sunset review bill. Substantial changes were made to the Dental Practice Act that will impact dental practices in the months and years to come. One of the key changes in this bill was the addition of new requirements to govern the use of lasers by dental practices.
