Late on Your Taxes? Take Advantage of Ongoing City, State and Federal Tax Amnesty Programs

Colorado Tax Amnesty Program
The State of Colorado is offering a grace period to pay outstanding individual and business state taxes including:

  • Personal, corporate and partnership income taxes,
  • State sales and use tax, and
  • City/county sales and use tax collected by the Colorado Department of Revenue.

If you failed to file a past state tax return in a timely manner or accidentally underreported taxes on a previous return, this is a great opportunity to fix the oversight and avoid most of the associated tax penalties (both criminal and monetary). The program runs Oct. 1, 2011 through Nov. 15, 2011.

Forum to Help Reduce Prescription Drug Abuse Coming to Colorado Nov. 10

Peer Assistance Services is hosting a Prescription Drug Abuse Forum at the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora on Thursday, Nov. 10. Participants will develop a state action plan to reduce prescription drug abuse in Colorado. Dentists, healthcare providers and other interested community leaders are invited to attend. The forum features prominent speakers, including Gov. John Hickenlooper and Gil Kerlikowske, Director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy. Dr Ken Versman - Newly Elected ADA 2nd Vice President

CDA past president and Aurora periodontist, Dr. Ken Versman, recently announced his candidacy for American Dental Association 2nd vice president.  Dr. Versman is currently the ADA’s 14th District Trustee and a true asset to organized dentistry.  As a longtime member of the ADA, CDA and MDDS, he is without a doubt passionate about the dental profession and its governance at the national level.  The election for ADA 2nd vice president will take place at the ADA Annual Session in Las Vegas the second week of October 2011.

IRS Law Requires Credit Card Reporting

A new mandatory Internal Revenue Service law, effective January 2012, requires that all credit card payment activity be reported to the IRS.  Failure to comply with these new rules could result in a 28% reduction of your revenue that is paid by credit card.

State Board Seeks Volunteers for Anesthesia Committee

The Colorado State Board of Dental Examiners is still seeking volunteers to help review anesthesia permit applications. Volunteers must hold an active permit in moderate or general/deep sedation. Volunteers will serve a two-year term on the review committee, which will meet monthly (with one exception) and is expected to require about six to 10 hours of time per month. Teleconferencing will be available for dentists outside the Denver metro area.

Health Dept. Names New Oral Health Director
