This week the CDA received a new revision of the SBDE’s anesthesia rule proposal that would modify the anesthesia permit structure for Colorado dentists. To view a copy of the most recent rule revision, click here. The new rule addresses a number of concerns raised at the Board’s last public rule hearing in October, including:
- Revision to use ADA definitions for the levels of sedation,
- Clarification and specificity on EKG requirements,
- Elimination of the term “anxiolysis” and clarification on premedication requirements, and
- Addition of a section detailing patient monitoring requirements.

At least $1M is available in grant funding to medical, oral and mental health projects that improve primary care services for the underserved in rural areas of Colorado. The maximum award amount is $50,000 per applicant.
The Colorado Rural Health Care Grant Program is available to support the health infrastructure in Colorado’s rural communities. The funds are intended to support outpatient primary care, which are considered to be the basic, entry level care (medical, oral and mental) provided by clinicians. The Colorado Rural Health Care Grant Council was developed by Gov. Bill Ritter to provide oversight for this grant program.
